Steve McClaren has been out of work since leaving QPR last year

Sky Sports News has been told that former England boss Steve McClaren has turned down the opportunity to manage Dundee United.
The Scottish side will be back in the Premiership next season after winning the Championship, but McClaren has decided against taking charge at Tannadice Park.

Malky Mackay is also a candidate for the Dundee United post
Dundee United have also held talks with ex-Cardiff manager Malky MacKay as they search for a replacement for Robbie Neilson – who left the club to rejoin Hearts last week after 18 months on Tayside.
McClaren has been out of work since leaving Championship club QPR last year.
The 59-year-old has a wealth of experience, having worked in both the Netherlands and Germany since he lost the England job in 2007.
