Rawalpindi: Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed led Sindh to a convincing four-wicket win against Balochistan in the 20th match of the National T20 Cup.
The 33-year-old looked in great touch for the very first time in the competition. He made 28-ball 44 which included six fours and a six. Sindh chased down the target of 174 on the first ball of the final over.
The 21-year-old Hassan Khan played a vital cameo of 28* in just 14 balls and remained unbeaten. Veteran Asad Shafiq made 30 off 24 while Azam Khan made 27 off 14.
For Balochistan, Khurram Shehzad and Amad Butt picked two while Umar Gul bagged one.
Earlier Imam-ul-Haq’s brilliance powered Balochistan to 173-3 in 20 overs. Imam smashed 92 runs off 60 balls with the help of 11 boundaries to support Baluchistan’s inning, strongly.
He partnered with Abdul Wahid Bangalzai to add 65 runs to his team’s total after losing his partner Awais Zia earlier for just 29 runs. Awais scored 17 off 13 balls.
Young Wahid, who was promoted to First XI from the second division, scored 32 off 27 balls laced with three boundaries and a six.
Bismillah Khan, in the end, struck six and two boundaries to contribute 16 runs to the team’s total. For Sindh, Sohail Khan, Anwar Ali and Hassan Khan bagged a wicket each.
Sarfaraz and Imam both were awarded player of the match for their remarkable knocks.
