Home Game Storm prevail in Golden Point thriller

Storm prevail in Golden Point thriller

The Sydney Roosters lead the Melbourne Storm 18-12 at Suncorp Stadium and so far it’s been all the Morris twins.

With scores locked at 12-12, Brett Morris crossed over in the 54th minute when Angus Crichton pulled off a ripping cut-out pass which allowed the winger to cross over in the corner.

Prior to that, Brett Morris was influential when the Roosters scored first against the Storm at the beginning of the match, courtesy of a brilliant individual effort from the 33-year-old who pounced on a Melbourne mistake.

After Suliasi Vunivalu put down a dreadful pass from Ryan Papenhuyzen, Morris swooped in and palmed off two defenders to set-up Kyle Flanagan for the first try of the night.

NRL legend Andrew Johns was left stunned with the effort from Morris and said he hoped the former Origin star would eventually decide to play again next season.

“Surely he plays on, surely he keeps playing on,” Johns said on Nine’s commentary.

Phil Gould added: “The great veteran winger.”

Right before half-time, brother Josh Morris also reminded everyone that he has more to give.

Johns lauded the effort from centre Josh Morris who kept sprinting to give himself the opportunity to score after Daniel Tupou caught Luke Keary’s fifth tackle kick.

Tupou quickly passed it off to Morris who dashed around him to score in the corner.

“He just sprints to get into position. Other players would be there looking at the ball and standing still,” Johns said.

“He gets in position and scores the try.

“Big difference, get your legs moving and get yourself in position.”
